In what has been an incredible year for the Rangers, the icing on the cake was receiving Football Victoria’s Community Inclusion Award. This award is given to clubs or individuals who demonstrate outstanding inclusive practises to provide football opportunities for disadvantaged groups.
Our club has developed a reputation over our history as ‘setting a new benchmark’ for clubs, in offering Women/Girls, Refugee/Humanitarian, Multicultural Youth, Children and Adults with Disabilities, LGBTIQA+ and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Our initiatives in 2025 that demonstrated our success in this area included:
- Two Senior Womens State League squads (previously 0 in 2023)
- Two Junior Girls Miniroos teams (previously 0 in 2023)
- A Minitillies Clinic (featuring regular junior female participants, for the first time)
- Our All Abilities Junior Football Squad (free football for children with disabilities)
- Our Rangers Refugee program (23 children from refugee/humanitarian backgrounds funded to play football for free)
- A committee and volunteer diversity split of 40/60 women to men ratio
- Supporting Pride Month, NAIDOC Week and other themed weeks with club activations and gestures to create inclusive spaces for individuals from these groups
2 Star Club Changer Status Achieved!
Further to the Community Inclusion award, our club were among the first handful of organisations in Australia to achieve Football Australia’s coveted ‘2 Star Club Changer Status’. This status is awarded to clubs who have demonstrated outstanding governance and implement their strategy in engaging and retaining female volunteers and players.
Our club receives many benefits from 2 Star Club Status, including opportunities to participate in Football Australia events, free, reduced priced and exclusive tickets to Football events in Australia and many more.
We have loved being part of the Club Changer program as it provides practical ways to implement strategies and initiatives at a club level that feed into the wider Football Australia mission to grow the game for all people.
We are working now to be among the first in the country to achieve a 3 Star Club Status!
