PURPOSE
To ensure that all players, members, spectators, officials and volunteers have a very clear understanding of the behaviour that is expected to meet our mission statement of providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the wider Footscray community and club participants, regardless of age, gender, ability, cultural background or preferences.
COACHES are required to:
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion
- Support, encourage and involve all players regardless of their talent level
- Never ridicule or yell at players for errors or poor performance
- Always consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before performance and results
- Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results
- Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behavior both on and off the field
- Maintain respectful and appropriate relationships with all participants
- Ensure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability, and experience of participants
- Promote the positive aspects of the sport (eg fair play)
- Always respect the official’s decision and support them to carry out their role
- Display consistently high standards of good sporting behaviour and appearance
- Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the Club
- Never condone rule violations, unfair or unduly rough play or the use of prohibited substances
- Never use offensive language or behaviour
- To always act as a role model
- Select players in line with the clubs published selection policy
- Ensuring that all rostered volunteering roles have been allocated and filled on a game day for their junior team, when a team manager is not present. In the event a role has not been filled, this information is communicated to a member of the clubs committee.
PLAYERS are required to:
- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, preferences or religion
- Play by the rules and respect umpires, and coaches decisions
- Always display good sporting behaviour
- Never use offensive language or behaviour towards anyone or engage in sledging or bullying of any person
- Co-operate with, and respect the time and effort of our coaching staff and volunteers
- Never behave in a manner that would damage the reputation of the club either on or off the field
- Be trustworthy
- Utilise and be contactable by the clubs chosen communication channels (Mobile, Email, Team App, etc.).
- Forward any concerns or complaints to our club Membership Protection Information Officer (MPIO@Rangersfootball.com.au)
- Pay for registration fees, merchandise and competition-imposed fines (eg. Receiving a red card) in a timely manner
- Adhere to the clubs Volunteer Roster policy.
TEAM CAPTAINS are required to:
- Adhere to all requirements expected of the above
- Assist club leadership with the endorsement of club related events
- Assist club coaching staff with training and game day support, as stipulated by the coach (eg. leading warm up, setting out cones at training, etc.).
- Ensuring that all rostered volunteering roles have been allocated and filled on a game day, informing the coach and club committee where roles have not been allocated on a game day. For junior teams, this role is undertaken by the team manager, or the team coach where there is not a team manager available.
VOLUNTEERS AND SPECTATORS are required to:
- Always act as good role models and ambassadors for the club
- Always welcome opposition players, spectators, officials etc to the club
- Never use offensive language or engage in offensive behaviour
- Treat everyone including the opposition with respect regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion
- Display consistently high standards of good sporting behaviour including respecting the official’s decisions
- Adhere to and support the Club policies
- Be trustworthy
- Pay for competition-imposed fines (eg. Receiving a red card).
PARENTS/FAMILY/GUARDIANS OF PLAYERS are required to:
- Always act as good role models and ambassadors for the club
- Refrain from repetitive on-field coaching as it can
- Always welcome opposition players, spectators, officials etc to the club
- Never use offensive language or engage in offensive or violent behaviour
- Treat everyone including the opposition with respect regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion
- Display consistently high standards of good sporting behaviour including respecting the official’s decisions
- Encourage my child/children to play according to rules
- Refrain from yelling or ridiculing any child, whether it is yours or another persons for any reason
- Forward any concerns or complaints to our club Membership Protection Information Officer (MPIO@Rangersfootball.com.au)
- Adhere to and support the Club policies
- Be trustworthy
- Pay for competition-imposed fines (eg. Receiving a red card).
I have read and agree to abide by the Codes of Conduct and understand that if I breach any of the Codes, the club reserves the right to undertake disciplinary action that could include temporary suspensions from games and social events, or the permanent removal from the club’s teams and club endorsed social events.
